Safety Professional - Bakken Job

Job Overview:

Marathon Oil is seeking a Safety Professional based in our Dickinson, ND office to support our Bakken Asset Team.  This field-based Safety Professional will provide support to operations with a focus on Production and Maintenance by applying technical health, safety and risk mitigation knowledge, and by assisting with implementation of health and safety standards, procedures and programs.  This individual will drive continuous improvement by supporting incident reporting and investigation, coaching to improve safety leadership and integrity of safety processes, providing consistent guidance on safety issues, and promoting knowledge sharing with other Marathon Oil business components.

Job Responsibilities:

• Advises and supports the Bakken Asset Team with respect to health and safety guidance and technical knowledge to achieve effective implementation of our HES programs.
• Has a consistent presence in the field and provides safety leadership coaching to operations and contract leaders to drive safety culture improvement within the Bakken Asset.
• Assess safety processes in the field to identify risks or gaps and takes action to mitigate and for continuous improvement.
• Understand, interpret and clearly communicate regulations, industry standards and corporate policies. Collaborate with other HES representatives to share best practices, corrective actions, and process improvements.
• Assists and/or leads the review of incidents and near misses in order to communicate prevention and improvement measures throughout the Bakken Asset. Assist and provide guidance for incident investigations as needed.
• Understand the importance of Contractor Management in order to provide direction to and develop a close working relationship with contractor personnel in the field.
• Support emergency preparedness and response efforts and assist operations with response drills.
• Participate in audits and provide feasible solutions for any deficiencies in a timely manner. 
• Set an example of living our values by participating in safety meetings, Behavior Based programs, environmental awareness, diversity awareness opportunities and other activities.
• Travel throughout western North Dakota on a regular basis. Overnight trips within the area probable to provide support to the asset. Potential travel to other Marathon locations on a periodic basis.

Job Qualifications:

Degree: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
Major: Safety or Engineering related preferred
Computer Proficiencies: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.) Use of databases and analytics tools preferred
Certifications: None required, but professional HES Certifications beneficial (e.g., CSP) beneficial
Work Experience: 5 years of Oil and Gas Drilling and/or Completions experience and general knowledge of HES management systems,  behavior based safety, hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation methods and HES leadership concepts beneficial.
