The fixed asset analyst reports to the Asset Accounting Manager within the Accounting Organization and will be responsible for fixed asset accounting functions for the Company’s US assets.  This position will interface regularly with Operations Accounting, Financial Analysts and Asset Team personnel. The incumbent will need to demonstrate strong problem solving, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills and a high level of initiative to realize department deliverables and goals within aggressive deadlines.  Clear understanding of the Oil and Gas Industry, Asset Retirement Obligations (ARO), DD&A, MA&D and PP&E is required.


  • Primary responsibility is the Accounting for Asset Retirement Obligations
  • Request estimates of MOC’s ARO liability from Asset Teams
  • Analyze Operation’s estimates and resultant ARO data
  • Present annual/quarterly changes for ARO to management for review
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of ARO process
  • Create and record all applicable journal entries related to ARO updates
  • Assist in monthly ARO analysis and variance explanations.
  • Perform Quarterly and Annual ARO reviews
  • Prepare and distribute multiple reports, including Dry Well Expense, ARO Rollforward, Suspended Well Report, Well Counts, ARC Asset Rollforward,
  • ARO accretion calculations and journal entries
  • Unproved Property Time Impairment reviews and entries
  • Unproved Property Significant Lease impairment reviews
  • Perform Fixed Asset Account Reconciliations in Blackline as assigned
  • System Testing and Special Projects as required
  • Work with Manager and Operations Accounting on complex tasks and projects.  May function as a project leader on small to medium sized projects.
  • Interact with other departmental personnel to improve departmental communication.
  • Possess strong knowledge of fixed asset accounting and share that knowledge with others.
  • Demonstrate initiative in seeking additional responsibility.
  • Assist in developing and promoting sound recommendations that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.


  • Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Computer Proficiencies: SAP and Excel
  • Work Experience: 5+ years Fixed Assets Accounting experience required
