Marathon Oil is seeking an experienced continual process improvement professional.  The successful candidate will act as a change agent coaching employees and leaders in continual process improvement using process re-engineering, human factors concepts, Lean principles, and other tools with the ultimate goal of driving culture change by establishing a continual improvement mindset and thinking throughout the company.  The successful candidate will coach, train, facilitate, and/or lead improvement efforts and events.




Be an ambassador for continual improvement

-  Challenge the status quo, suggest and initiate process improvement projects supporting achievement of business objectives

-  Be a passionate thought leader to create effective improvement processes and methods

-  Build collaborative relationships across the organization to understand the business and value streams allowing to collectively identify target areas for improvement to increase utilization, reduce costs, and/or support business objectives

-  Develop effective communications and methods to share learnings and results from projects throughout the company

-  Network with others throughout the company to help build and maintain culture of improvement


Support development of continual process improvement culture, mindset and thinking throughout company through effective coaching, mentoring, training and communication

-  Develop and implement communication and training program to create and enhance continual improvement mindset, thinking and tools to build self-sufficiency, sustainability and scalability

-  Train project team members in applicable continual improvement tools and methodologies

-  Coach employees in problem identification, problem solving methods and change management techniques

-  Mentor green belts or others in applying Lean methods and tools

-  Coach leadership in employing behaviors to support a continual improvement culture


Lead development and implementation of a continual process improvement system

-  Create efficient, effective and dependable processes and tools that use structured problem solving methods to resolve issues, eliminate waste, and support business objectives

-  Assist leaders in establishing and measuring key process metrics, ensuring metrics are actionable with benchmarks to track improvements

-  Perform data analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations to management

-  Work with leaders and employees to identify potential projects, prioritize projects, and implement solutions, including working across organizational, asset and functional boundaries as necessary

-  Facilitate leaders and employees to instill effective daily work management behaviors, tools, and processes

-  Utilize appropriate Lean tools and methodologies to drive operational excellence including such items as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Standard Work, Takt Time, Visual Management, etc.

-  Lead cross-functional and interdepartmental teams on continuous improvement projects

-  Hands-on execution of improvement projects

-  Bachelor Degree

-  Minimum 5 years experience in leading continual improvement projects

-  Green belt or higher in LEAN, Six-Sigma or equivalent

-  Ability to travel to field offices periodically



-  Bachelor degree in industrial or other engineering, business or related

-  Black belt or higher in LEAN, Six-Sigma or equivalent

-  10 years or more experience in leading continuous improvement projects

-  Experience in leading continuous improvement teams

-  Experience in Upstream Oil & Gas Industry, specifically resource plays
