Marathon Oil is seeking a SCADA Administrator to support the Wonderware SCADA systems within the onshore unconventional Oil & Gas assets. This role is responsible for performing SCADA system administration for the Permian Basin and Oklahoma Resource Basin. This position will be located in Houston, TX. In addition, this role will work with the Houston SCADA Technical Team and Solutions Architect to provide thought leadership and shape Marathon’s direction and policies around its SCADA environment.    

 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial for success. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy Wonderware SCADA system-based solutions for new and existing Oil & Gas well sites and production facilities including SCADA system databases, alarming, and control strategies (ArchestrA System Platform).
  • Develop reusable templates, well-behaved object scripting, components that enhance monitoring and controls, and custom toolkits.
  • Work closely with asset Instrumentation and control personnel to ensure all new facility designs follow the cause-and-effect matrix.
  • Support maintenance and construction activities including the addition and removal of artificial lift systems including gas lift compression, rod pump, ESP, and plunger lifts.
  • Work closely with the asset Data management team and Houston data team to ensure SCADA data is being fed accurately into downstream PI systems and accounting systems (ProCount)
  • Provide support for capital construction projects.
    • Develop and deploy new site objects and graphics that adhere to facility cause and effect documentation.
    • Establish a link to new facility telemetry using ACM (AutoSol Communication Manager) and gas and oil measurement devices are mapped correctly for accurate data propagation to FlowCal system.
    • Conduct FCO (Functional Check Out) with asset I&E technicians to ensure RTU programming and SCADA system programming are correct and adhere to facility C&E documentation.
  • Develop multi-level graphics (overview, process, graphics, trending, alarming, user management, etc.…) with proven OMI apps and HMI integration.
  • Must be driven to constantly improve SCADA end-user experience by developing and implementing enhancements.
  • Deliver on reporting requirements (production, exceptions, communications).
  • Must be able to prioritize work and communicate effectively to all members of the team often working on multiple projects at once.
  • Field Support
    • Assist field personnel with the installation and testing of hardware interfaces to the HMI system (Field Controllers, Remote Terminal Units, Network Devices)
    • Provides first-level support with installation and testing of Local Networks and Protocols to ensure communications are successful from the well site to the Historian
    • Guides field personnel with the SCADA equipment field checkout (HMI integration) 
  • Operational Support
    • Work closely with asset control centers to continuously improve processes to improve operational support.
    • Troubleshoot SCADA issues when they arise.
  • Must be available to travel ~25%

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience performing operational administration and support duties in a SCADA environment primarily using Wonderware 2014/2017, with Wonderware 2020 preferred.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience.  Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Certifications with Wonderware, MQTT preferred.
  • Oil & Gas Industry Experience preferred.
  • Proficient working in a Windows PC and Windows Server environment (5+ years).
